Tim Laman

Tim Laman has a reputation for capturing still and moving images of nearly impossible subjects. Tim is an ornithology research associate at Harvard University, where he earned his Ph.D. in biology after his first National Geographic article on his research in Borneo. His passion for conservation frequently takes him to the most exotic and remote places in the world, from the depths of the Everglades to the New Guinea rainforests. He is a skilled climber, diver, and skier.

Tim has won a variety of awards for his photographic, multimedia, and scholarly work. He is a fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers and a fixture in four categories at the Nature‚Äôs Best International Photography Awards, and he was a finalist at the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Tim achieved success as the director of natural history photography for National Geographic Television’s Birds of Paradise: Winged Seduction and his fall 2012 book on the same subject.
